Here at Maple Springs Foot Center, we’re here to help you locate and treat any sources of foot or ankle discomfort and get you back on your path to a healthy life. As a patient, you may not realize how big of a role you play in each appointment. Proper preparation can make your appointment and even your healing go smoothly. Here’s four tips to get the most out of your podiatry appointment:

1.       Play Joe Friday. “Just the facts,” and as many as you can bring us about your foot or ankle condition. Our podiatrist, Dr. Stuart Snyder, wants to know every detail about any pain you’re experiencing: when did it start? Where is it occurring? Is it stabbing, aching, dull, throbbing, or another type of pain? Is there anything that exacerbates the pain (running, cold weather, etc.)? Has this occurred before?

2.       Bring your records. Past medical records that pertain to podiatric treatment will help Dr. Snyder understand your history. If your foot hurts worse in certain pairs of shoes, you should definitely bring those shoes along. If that’s not the case, just wear shoes that you wear most often to the appointment.

3.       Don’t clam up. Be free to tell us about your symptoms or any concerns you have. If you’re curious or concerned about any treatment options, please let us know. There are often numerous paths to treatment (depending on the condition), and we’re happy to discuss them.

4.       Stick to the plan. Once you have a prescribed plan for treatment from your podiatrist, it’s important to stick with it. If you’re experiencing side-effects or adverse reactions to medication or therapy, let us know immediately. It’s possible for healing to be delayed when issues like this are not communicated regularly.

The best results come from a solid partnership between patient and podiatrist. If you are having any issues in your feet or ankles, call us today.
