Smelly Shoes Care and Tips
You shower daily. You change your socks every day yet your shoes still stink! What sort of problem could be going on? When you’ve ruled out foot odor caused by bacteria or fungal infection, the next step is to take a long, hard look at your shoes. If it’s not your feet, it is most likely your shoes!
When we first purchase a new pair of shoes, they’re usually brand new from the factory with that new-shoe smell. We wear our clothes every day and wash them at least once per week, but what about our shoes? Most shoes go their entire existence without being washed. We wouldn’t wear the same pair of pants from buying them to needing to throw them out, right? When you’ve ruled out other issues from being the root cause of your foot odor, chances are the problem is your shoes. What can you do to fix this?
Below are our best tips to help keep your shoes odor free and fresh:
Washing - When appropriately washed, this can thoroughly clean out some of the dirt and debris built up inside the materials of your shoes, causing odor.
Powder - As an extra line of defense, you can lightly powder your feet with foot-friendly powder meant to reduce foot odor.
Spray - An odor-battling shoe spray can be extremely helpful when it comes to prolonging the life of new shoes and refreshing older shoes.
Switching - Have a backup pair of shoes to give your main shoes a break. This will keep both pairs fresh longer and give you some variety!
